La Ventana (Tango Shows)

San telmo y
Location
Tango show in an old, historical "conventillo," (a typical large house where poor immigrants used to live at the beginning of the 20th century) which has been carefully restored. It has four rooms, each with its own style. The "El Aljibe" (The Well) room has adobe walls and depressed arches. In the "Salón del Virrey" (Viceroy's Room) you can visit the tunnels that were used as escapeways from the Santo Domingo convent founded in 1660. The "Salón Caesar" has marvelous chandeliers, boisserie with gold sheet mouldings, white leather sofas and a grand piano. On the highest floor of the building you will find the "Quincho Santo Domingo" (Santo Domingo Pavilion), which is made of wood and bricks and has a large grill and a spectacular view of the Santo Domingo Monastery and the Mausoleum of General Manuel Belgrano (one of Argentina's Founding Fathers).
