A good refuge for book lovers. Here one can find books ranging from rare, old books to contempory titles, as well as groups that meet to read and reflect.

One day I saw a photograph of Ernesto Sábato in the Plaza Dorrego, on exhibition as part of the Festival de Luz. On the back was a curious excerpt from El Dragón y la Princesa. I wandered down along Humberto Primo. It was raining and as I ducked under the nearest awning I found myself surrounded by books. I thought about what I'd read in the Palza Dorrego and asked if they didn't have anything by Sábato. César, the owner, like a character out of a Dicken's novel, stroked his leprine goatee and rolled his eyes upwards in contemplation. Then, tapping his chin, he turned toward a shelf packed with Argentina's most renowned and obscure writers, producing a copy of Sobre Héroes y Tumbas. Therein, I found what I had been looking for without ever knowing it. Since then I have been back whenever I have a question about a book -- whatever its origins may be -- or simply to chat with César. It is a part of San Telmo I wouldn't want to miss.
