The Academia Nacional del Tango is located on the first, second and third floors of the former Unzué Palace. The first floor includes the rooms Pascual Contursi, Ángel Villoldo, Carlos Vega, Carlos Gardel, Astor Piazzolla, Aníbal Troilo, Julio y Francisco De Caro and De los Angelitos Horacio Ferrer, where the president's office, the academic department, the World Tango Museum, the art gallery and the administration and information offices are located.
The Liceo Superior del Tango (Tango School) and dance courses have been operating on the second floor since 1995. It also includes the Tango Library, the General Tango Archive, a video library and a record collection. According to the poet Horacio Ferrer, its founder and first president, it is "The place for tango muses, for cherishing so much feeling and so much beauty that, created by the people and for the people, they have become "louvres" and "hermitages" or art.
