Viejo Gómez (Restaurants)

Many years ago, in the middle of the economic crisis of 1933, an old tango by Pelay and Canaro asked “Dónde hay un mango Viejo Gómez?” ("Where can I get a buck, old Gómez?) In the same tango style of that time, you could ask: What can I have to eat today, old Gómez? You will find the answer on a blackboard at the door of the restaurant. There is good Argentine meat and a very affordable menu at midday. It is very easy to find, since it has a conspicuous sign in neon lights that you can see from half a block away inviting you in. The place is composed of two small apartments that were joined together and recycled by restoration specialists, who created a nice environment with excellent lighting. The music, of course, are classic tangos in tune with the spirit of the area. One interesting detail: you will be served delicious country-style cold-cuts, olives and cheeses while you wait for your dish and a glass of champagne at the end of the meal on the house.
