The Museo del Grabado (Museum of Engravings) was opened in 1960 as a private collection by Professor Oscar Carlos Pecora and was the first museum exclusively dedicated to this kind of work. Years later, this important private collection was generously donated to the Federal State and in 1983 it became the Museo Nacional del Grabado (National Museum of Engravings), which operated in different locations in the city of Buenos Aires, until it was transferred to this building. The house is located in the old part of the city and is a typical construction from the late 19th century, which includes three exhibition rooms, a library and reading room, a paper conservation and restoration workshop, an engraving workshop, technical offices, the Museum shop and other facilities. It also has a splendid patio located in the back of the building, that is used for different cultural activities. The Museum promotes graphic works and offers its services to the community by means of exhibitions, conferences, guided tours, courses, seminars, workshops on different engraving techniques and other activities related to the art of engraving in general.
