Rajadell Art Gallery (Galleries)

Location This exceptional artist from the Argentine province of Santa Fe has opened the doors of his atelier in the heart of the San Telmo district on Defensa Street, diagonally from Plaza Dorrego. Jorge Rajadell has a great reputation, since he was a student and assistant to Antonio Berni, and took his first steps in the art world in his adolescence with Benito Quinquela Martín. During the first few years, he experimented with surrealism and sculpting. The theme of his paintings are wild animals in their own habitats. The animal he most represents is the tiger. Jorge became an "icon" of hyper-realist art and Latin American painting by returning to his roots and is a true representative of ecological polychromy. His work has been included in famous collections, including that of Amalia Fortabat, who purchased a painting in 1993 at the Roldán auction house for the modest sum of USD 73,900. His current atelier located on Defensa Street is run by Roberto Rajadell, Jorge's brother and includes a permanent joint collection by national, international, renowned and new artists of different genres, many of which are working there live, and is a sort of joint atelier. This gallery that exhibits the work of so many talented artists is truly a must-see.
