San Telmo, a typical tango district, has become an important meeting place for the gay community. This mega-nightclub, which is just a few feet away from 9 de Julio Avenue, is part of the gay circuit. It is located in a traditional and elegant commercial building that dates back to the 19th century. Before it became a nightclub it was a Protestant church. It was recycled but the columns were maintained, as well as the marble and iron staircases, the rectangular shape of the basilica, which is intact, and its three floors, all leading to the main dance floor, which is on the ground floor. They have added lasers, video screens, a sound system that could make the ground of an entire city shake... and mainly red and black sofas. It is full of people, about 90 percent of which are men, among them a considerable number of foreign tourists. There is also a well-stocked bar, provocative dancers, transvestites and a 280-pound transformist who welcomes you when you come in. On the top floor there is another bar where you can comfortably have a drink with your friends, your boyfriend or someone you just met. On the same floor there is a small darkroom. In conclusion, it is one of the best gay nightclubs in the city of Buenos Aires.
